DECUS

Base gets its own app. ETH Hub used to carry Ethereum and Base behind a picker, which meant every figure on screen depended on a control you had to check before you could trust it, and comparing your exposure on the two chains meant switching one window back and forth and losing the scan each time. There are two desks now: ETH Hub is Ethereum, Base Hub is Base, and each is honest end to end about the chain it reads, from its dock tile to its explorer links to the range its approval scan actually covered. Base Hub reads approvals from the chain's first block, because Base is young enough to read end to end, where Ethereum's scan starts in January 2021 and says so. App Center is rebuilt on the layout Settings uses, and an app's page now carries ratings and reviews left by people who pressed the button rather than figures nobody gave. The Help menu gains a way to send feedback and to report something broken. Wallet is renamed Solana Wallet.

Base Hub, a desk of its own

The same six destinations ETH Hub has, pointed at Base: live token approvals on a wallet with what each one could take and a way to revoke it, a priced inventory of the dust in the wallet, gas and congestion, address and transaction lookup, local tools for units, calldata, hashes and addresses, and the read-only Farcaster reader. Because it is its own app it is also its own window, so both chains can sit side by side, each holding its own scan, which the picker made impossible. One thing Base gets that Ethereum cannot: its approval scan starts at the first block of the chain, so there is no older grant sitting outside the range. ETH Hub keeps the warning that its own scan starts in January 2021, and it now applies to one chain rather than whichever was selected.

App Center, rebuilt as a preferences layout

The store was dressed as a marketplace: a strip of four figures across the top of every view, a grid and list toggle, tiles, and an editorial shelf in a style nothing else in the system uses. None of it was doing work for a shelf of free apps. It is now the layout Settings runs on, a grouped list of destinations down one side with the categories in it, a title bar with back and forward, and titled cards of rows. An app's page is a pane inside that same frame rather than a screen that replaces it, so the navigation never disappears and you can go from one app straight to a category. On a narrow window the list becomes a scrolling row of icons at the top, which means the categories now reach a phone instead of being dropped.

Ratings and reviews, from actual reviewers

The store spent a long time with no ratings at all, because the stars it used to show were nobody's. An app's page now carries two separate questions, kept apart on purpose: a star rating for the app, one per person, and a like or a dislike scoped to a single version, which is the only shape in which "was this release any good" has a useful answer. An app nobody has rated says exactly that rather than borrowing a number. Reviewing needs no account: an id kept by this browser stands in for one, the backend never stores it in a form it can read back, and a connected wallet is context rather than the identity, so disconnecting one does not orphan what you wrote.

  • 04

    Send feedback, report an issue

Two forms in the Help menu, above the release notes so somebody opening that menu because something is wrong does not have to read past a changelog. Feedback asks how the release feels, a subject and the words. A report asks the things that make a claim actionable instead: which app, how bad, and what kind of failure. The report attaches the browser's user agent, because a bug nobody can reproduce cannot be fixed, and says so in the form above the button rather than collecting it quietly. Nothing else about the machine is sent, and a failed send keeps every word you wrote.

    Wallet is Solana Wallet

It has been a Solana account since the three apps became one, and on a system that now reaches Ethereum and Base a name that says only "Wallet" claims more than the app does. It is Solana Wallet everywhere the name appears, and it carries its own icon inside its own window rather than showing one picture of itself in the dock and a different one once you are in it.

Everything in this release

New4

  • Base Hub: approvals, dust, gas, lookup, local tools and the Farcaster reader, all pointed at Base, in a window of its own that can sit beside ETH Hub.
  • Base Hub scans approvals from the first block of the chain, so no grant falls outside the range it checked.
  • Ratings and reviews on an app's page in App Center: a star rating for the app, and a like or dislike scoped to one version. An app nobody has rated says so instead of showing a number.
  • Send Feedback and Report an Issue, in the Help menu. A report carries the app, the severity, the kind of failure and the browser's user agent, which the form states before you send it.

Improved8

  • App Center is rebuilt on the layout Settings uses: a grouped list of destinations with the categories in it, a title bar with back and forward, and cards of rows in place of the tile grid.
  • An app's page in App Center is a pane inside the store rather than a screen that replaces it, so the navigation stays on screen and an app leads straight to its category.
  • On a narrow window App Center's destinations become a scrolling row of icons at the top, which puts the categories on a phone rather than dropping them.
  • Archiving and uninstalling an app are labelled rows on its page with the consequence written beside them, in place of two unlabelled icons in the corner.
  • ETH Hub is Ethereum alone. The strip that warns a connected wallet is on the wrong chain now carries the switch that fixes it, so the remedy sits on the problem.
  • Wallet is renamed Solana Wallet, and shows its own app icon in the window rather than a flat glyph.
  • Keyboard focus is visible again across the hub apps. Segmented tabs, row checkboxes, copy buttons and revoke controls had all dropped the outline, which left anybody tabbing through a window guessing where they were.
  • Destinations that are prose rather than figures, the Farcaster reader and the local tools, are set in a reading column instead of stretching to the full width of the window.

Removed2

  • The chain picker in ETH Hub. Ethereum and Base are two apps, and each says which chain it read.
  • App Center's four-figure summary strip, its grid and list toggle, and the stylised window images that stood in for screenshots on an app's page.
